Fr. Jesse Garcia

Pastor

 

Originally from San Antonio, TX, Fr. Jesse has lived in Italy, Colombia, Canada and in the US: New York City, Freeport, TX and now, The Woodlands! He is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian, and has Master’s Degrees in Psychology, Theology and Divinity, as well as Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology, Business Administration, Religious Studies, and Sacred Scripture. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston June 7, 2014, and began serving as Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on September 1st, 2021.

Pastoral Council

The role of the Pastoral Council is to provide council and consultation to the pastor on current and future pastoral issues and to be representative of the whole church community.  The council meets monthly and members are expected to be active in the community through networking and sensing.

 

The Council also represents the whole church community.  If you have questions, comments or ideas about our parish and the future, please reach out to any member or contact the council through their email.

Development Council

The Development Council is a committee of St. Anthony’s parishioners who are dedicated to providing and planning for the future generations of Paduans here in The Woodlands. Their aim is to stoke the fire of stewardship, to make new and exciting gift sources available to the parish, to inspire all parishioners to go above and beyond what is considered ‘average’ for the greater good of St. Anthony of Padua. 

 

While acknowledging the needs of the present, the Development Council considers the future needs of St. Anthony of Padua to be paramount. Our community has grown in a major way over the past 25 years – the Development Council seeks to ensure that our growth can continue for 25, 50, and 100 years into the future. 

 

This Development Council works closely alongside Fr. Jesse and the staff in all their initiatives. Guided by the vision of Fr. Jesse, the council seeks to advance the Gospel message through the education, involvement, and financial investment of our parishioners. The council consists of distinct committees. They are:

Youth Minister (6-12 Grade)

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, Texas is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as the Youth Minister at our parish. This position offers a unique opportunity to guide and support the spiritual growth and development of our youth (6-12 Grade), fostering a deep connection to their faith and the Catholic community. As the Youth Minister, you will play a crucial role in planning, organizing, leading, and executing, weekly Life Nights, service projects, social activities, retreats, and programs that promote active participation, discipleship, and leadership among the teens of our parish.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Catechesis & Spiritual Formation: Follow and implement the Life Teen Program delivering engaging and age- age-appropriate catechetical sessions for the youth of the parish. Utilize creative teaching methods to present Catholic teachings in a relatable manner, fostering a sense of relevance and understanding.
  • Youth Engagement & Pastoral Care: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages the youth to actively participate in the life of the Church. Plan and coordinate regular gatherings, social events, and service opportunities that inspire fellowship, friendship, and a sense of Offer pastoral support and guidance to the youth, providing a listening ear and a compassionate heart. Be available to address their questions, concerns, and challenges, offering a Christ-centered perspective and guidance.
  • Leadership Development: Empower and equip high school and junior high students to become leaders within the parish Provide opportunities for youth to grow in their leadership skills, encouraging them to take active roles in organizing and executing various events and initiatives.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication channels with parents, core teams, and Regularly update and inform parents about upcoming events, program details, and important announcements. Communicate with the core team, providing clear instructions, guidance, and support to ensure the smooth execution of youth ministry initiatives. Employ various communication methods, including email, newsletters, social media platforms, and in-person meetings, to reach out to high school youth and keep them informed about upcoming activities, retreats, and opportunities for spiritual growth. Respond promptly to inquiries, concerns, and feedback from parents, core teams, and teens, demonstrating a commitment to excellent communication and fostering a sense of trust and transparency within the youth ministry community.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and supervise a core team of volunteers to assist with youth ministry programs. Provide ongoing support and guidance, ensuring they are equipped to effectively serve and mentor the teens.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Practicing Catholic with a commitment to the teachings and traditions of the Catholic
  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, catechetics, religious studies, or 3+ years working with high school-aged youth in a ministry, teaching, or counseling capacity.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect and relate to teens and
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities
  • Knowledge of current trends, resources, and best practices in youth

Lifeteen/EDGE Assistant Youth Coordinator

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, Texas is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as the Lifeteen/ EDGE Assistant Youth Coordinator at our parish. This position assists the youth minister in helping teens belong to the church, believe in Jesus, and send the forth to bless others by modeling core values, developing these values in others, and coordinating the teen catechesis and evangelization efforts in the parish.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with and participate as a part of the Youth Ministry team
  • Understand and respond to the needs, development, and culture of youth
  • Be present and visible at EDGE and Lifeteen events and in the area schools.
  • Promote participation in the Life Teen Mass
  • Effectively communicate the Gospel to students orally and through other mediums.
  • Assist in the Design, implementation, and execution of all EDGE and Lifeteen Sessions and retreats.
  • Assist in Recruiting, training, and supporting EDGE and Lifeteen Core Members.
  • Assist in Creating and managing EDGE and Lifeteen Small Groups
  • Attend and assist Confirmation and Life Teen retreats
  • Assist in Designing and implementing EDGE and Lifeteen events that advance the mission of Youth Ministry.
  • Maintain excellent communication with EDGE and Lifeteen parents, youth, and the entire parish
  • Empower parents in their role as primary catechists of their children
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and staffing of EDGE and Lifeteen summer trips and events
  • Assist in the recruitment and supervision of Behind the Scenes Adult Volunteers for EDGE and Lifeteen
  • Assist in Youth Ministry events and accept additional projects as directed by the supervisor
